# Rebuilding Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy After a Scam

**A Twelve-Step Program for Scam Survivors**

### Course Introduction

You trusted someone who turned out to be a criminal, and that betrayal left its mark on how you see yourself. Many survivors lose more than money. They lose faith in their own worth and their own judgment, and they start to question decisions they once made with ease.

This course gives you a complete, step-by-step program for rebuilding both. It combines what research shows works best: cognitive behavioral methods for changing harsh beliefs about yourself, self-compassion practice, and proven ways to rebuild confidence in your abilities through real experience.

### What you will do

- Learn what self-esteem and self-efficacy are, and how a scam damages both.
- Follow twelve practical steps, one per week, each with clear instructions and a worksheet.
- Build a ten-minute daily practice that keeps your progress moving.
- Track your progress with worksheets that save to your account, including a chart of your weekly growth.
- Finish with a new view of yourself, a plan for setbacks, and a plan for the year ahead.

### How long it takes

Plan on about twelve weeks, with roughly ten minutes of practice each day and one step lesson each week. Move faster or slower as you need. The steps build on each other, so take them in order.

### Before you begin

Take the self-assessment for self-esteem and self-efficacy if it is available to you, because your score becomes your starting point. This course supports your recovery and works best alongside a licensed therapist or counselor.
