SCARS Announcement: Return From Saudi Arabia

A Communique from the Society of Citizens Against Relationship Scams Inc. – a nonprofit nongovernmental organization

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Official Summary & Observations From Our Visit To Saudia Arabia March 2019

We would like to thank the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture for their gracious welcome and hospitality during our recent visit to their Kingdom. We were warmly welcomed by the Ministry of Culture staff and officials.

However, part of our reason for the visit was also to address issues of cybercrime (online fraud) originating from the Kingdom and to explore the ways the Saudi police address and support scam victims in their country.

While we had the opportunity to meet with the Directorate of Public Security we were appalled to learn that scam victims were treated as criminals in many cases and that the law of the land allows for the most severe treatment and punishment for them. We will speak in greater detail about our opinions on these matters through our other media as appropriate.

It is the official position of the Society that the approach expressed by officials in Saudia Arabia are not only unjust but a violation of the basic rights that all victims must enjoy worldwide.

It will become the goal of the Society of Citizens Against Relationship Scams to call out the inhumane treatment of victims of cybercrime in all of their forms worldwide and to work with our Member Chapters & Groups, local Ambassadors, and other nonprofit or NGO organizations around the world to change the laws and attitudes in select countries to improve the safety and assistance of victims of scams and other online crime.

SCARS is an organization that was founded to improve the assistance and support for victims around the world and free them from the abuse they impose upon themselves through guilt and regret, also imposed by amateurs and pretend experts across the web, and to improve the understanding and support provided by law enforcement. We are proud of our achievements in this as represented by our exceptional reception by governments around the world and our partnerships with leading global enforcement agencies.

SCARS will continue to work tirelessly to improve the deplorable treatment of victims globally and to help them recover from their trauma. This is our pledge as an organization.

Sincerely,

Tim McGuinness, Ph.D.
Chairman

FAQ: How Do You Properly Report Scammers?

It is essential that law enforcement knows about scams & scammers, even though there is nothing (in most cases) that they can do.

Always report scams involving money lost or where you received money to:

  1. Local Police – ask them to take an “informational” police report – say you need it for your insurance
  2. Your National Police or FBI (www.IC3.gov »)
  3. The SCARS|CDN™ Cybercriminal Data Network – Worldwide Reporting Network on www.Anyscam.com »

This helps your government understand the problem, and allows law enforcement to add scammers on watch lists worldwide.
