SCARS Institute Insight:

A Brief Note on Our Approach

Please understand that we are not mental healthcare providers and are not here to diagnose you. Our role is to observe the behaviors you exhibit and comment on how they align with the established needs of the recovery process. If we see you drifting from the path, we will be honest with you. This feedback is not a personal attack, nor a diagnosis, though we acknowledge that it can feel triggering for some.

A recovery group or program is not the right fit for everyone, and there is no shame in recognizing that. For some, individual therapy and independent learning may be a more suitable option, especially in the early stages of healing. Either way, this is the reality of the recovery process. We say it is hard because it is. It will be triggering from time to time, and this is actually a positive development. These moments give you the opportunity to identify your triggers and actively work to reduce their power over you.

As you know, we provide access to free therapy through our partner organization. We strongly recommend that all of you take advantage of this valuable resource to support your journey.
